Sommer, David Charles age 85, of Minneapolis, passed away May 19, 2024. Preceded in death by parents Ida Jerome and John Davies, and brother Richard Sommer. Survived by wife Louise Halverson, daughters Linnea and Lucia Sommer (Steve Kurtz), sisters Diana and Wanda Davies (Ives Wittman), and many nieces and nephews. David studied mathematics at University of MN and Harvard. He worked for Control Data, did Operations Research at Northwest Airlines, and had his own consulting firm. He enjoyed tennis, skiing, hiking, and canoeing. He served on the board of Senior Tennis Players Club, and edited the newsletter for 11 years, for which he won a national USTA award. Celebration of Life to be noon, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at First Unitarian Society, 900 Mt Curve Ave, Minneapolis, with reception to follow. Donations preferred to Planned Parenthood.
